So do you ever wonder if God is ever looking down on us and shaking his head with a smile as we try to figure out things and make sense of situations that in the end turn out even better then we planned? Yes we made it to Salvador with a good night sleep and a Bueno lunch behind us. One more night to say "see you later" was wonderful.
Granted there were more minor bumps along the way but we missed the pot holes and ditches. Patty and Jaylynn came and picked us up from my parents house and took us back to the airport. As us three girls got the 8 pieces of luggage through the check point, Patty went and got us Bueno and a Double Shot :o). Yea for coffee. We loaded without a problem. (Less tears this time around) In Dallas, Alex picked us up and Megan met us at the Grapevine Mills mall. I had been having massive unlocking cell phone issues and the Cingular people called me just after we landed. At the mall we were able to find a store that would unlock it for us so now I can use the Brazilian SIM card. (God gave us one more day..If we had left on time I would not have had a phone here.) At the mall we got to hangout, get ice cream, sunglasses and took a small detour by Build-A-Bear. The flight to Sao Paulo from DFW was 2 hours delayed because of fuel issues and therefore we missed our connection to Salvador. Luckily we were not the only ones. The airport in Salvador was not opened until 9am so all the flights going out were delayed. We were just put on the 2:35 flight rather than the 11:00. We met two girls from Tx that were coming to Salvador to take classes. They hung out with us and got to sit with us on the new flight. We all went through customs (Tip..if you ever carry blocks of cheese in your carry on and it melts, they will stop and search your luggage for hidden liquid or gel items.) Anyway after waiting for hours in line we start to check in for the flight. We tell them that Beth and Stevana are with us so we all check in together. Well everyone is clear.....but me. There is no ticket for me and I am not in their computer system. Our plane is boarding in 20 mins. So there are 2 out of the 4 of us that speak Portuguese (Heather and Beth). Heather stays with the bags at the check in point along with Stevana. Beth and I RUN across the airport to the opposite end to find the American Airline Center. In the end everything was alright. We made it in time and I had a seat ON the plane. In Salvador Russ and Val had been waiting for us since 1:00pm and due to poor communication they thought that we were on the next flight..then the next...and the next. We arrived at about 5:30pm. Currently I am out on the balcony in the cool breeze with scent of the ocean and the muffled sound of traffic and drums highlighted by the glow of the lights from the tall buildings and the winding street. It is more urban then I was expecting but it is beautiful here. I can't wait to see it in the sunlight. (It gets dark around 5pm) Heather and I will be sharing the guest room right now because there is more space then we were thinking. Kelton, Randy and Jen's 3 year old, helped us unpack and made sure that we were going to be tired tonight. He is all rough and tumble. Heather just went off to go to sleep.I can see the golden moon dipping into the ocean to the right of the buildings. It is so peaceful. We are in an apartment on the 10th floor so the view of the skyline is amazing.
I think that it is time to call it a night.
Goodnight...sleep with the angels...
I love you all
PS
I do have to say that I am glad that all the toilets are Western.....and a bus went by that reminded me of the Tokyo train around the rush.......
I love you honey
